It’s been decided that the sheer volume of offensively named offspring necessitates its own dedicated page. So here it is. Please submit your suggestions! The original blog entry about the bogan’s love of ridiculous child names can be found here.
Caution: The next person to recount “Le-a” or “Abcde” as a bogan baby name will be shot.

Any and all names that are lifted from celebrities – i.e. Brooklyn, Romeo & Cruise.

My cousin named her daughter “Kaneisha”. She also refuses to use the “g” in any word with “ing” on the end so I think that deserves bogan status.
Imagine the ink we’d save if g was deleted, mind bogglin
Surely that would be mind bolin
In school I knew a Karysma and my co-worker just named her daughter Elly-ette (pronounced Elliott). Pro-tip: If your spell checker underlines the name you want to name your baby, try again.
I think you’ll find that kre8yv types scoff in the face of such slavery to convention.
Your co-worker is surely in the running for some sort of prize, ideally involving multiple family lobotomies in a secure facility of their choice.
A woman is up on manslaughter charges, her name is published.
A quick look on her facebook page reveals her children as jaydan-liam and shanay.
Both kids were present when the crime took place. Poor little bastards.
Is that the case where they killed the poor security guard last night? Typical bogan behaviour
(
Teyghan Stadelbauer, is listed as the general manager of the company, while Byankah Stadelbauer is listed as the Victorian sales manager
Tressica started at work today. Ugh.
http://maggiesmadmusings.blogspot.com.au/
You forgot one of the most bogan names in all of history….. BAZZA!!!!
Just saw a good one on news.com.au “Brittney-Ruby. A classic double whammy.
Nikee, Tregan, Michelka, Beckaa, Vernesa
Now you’re just naming personas from Australian reality TV shows.
In other news, how bloody awful was The Shite… sorry, The Shire?
Trans-Tasman bulletin:
“Rocks, stones, bottles and shopping trolleys were hurled at police as an 18th-birthday party spiralled out of control.
…
Twins *** Rhythm and Heaven-Leigh Hartman *** decided to hold a joint 18th party, with two friends also celebrating birthdays, on Saturday night at their home in Rimu Rd. Rhythm posted an open invitation on Facebook.”
http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/7334460/Twins-birthday-bash-turns-to-chaos
The clever pun of Heaven-Leigh being obvious, perhaps Rhythm was in reference to a non-idiot-proof contraception method.
happy to see my name is NOT on that list!
My daughter is Maia, so I totally understand
Latiqua
Shaye Should be there
On a parenting forum recently I was appalled but highly amused by a bogette’s shrill assertion that Harlaquinn was both beautiful and unique. References to awful disfiguring skin diseases, scary clowns and bad romantic fiction notwithstanding.
Do you have a link to this forum? Think I might like to visit for a little amusement … really, Harlaquinn??? Bad, bad, bad.
I think, Looweez should get a gurnsey ?
In supermarket recently and “Braydeen” sounded awfull. spose as the mother sounded like a donkey it filled the immage ?
LOL James Hunter …. my real name is actually spelt the correct way (Louise) but my username dates back to a long-ago friend’s address book – he was a very bad speller and had phonetically spelt my name as you see in my username. It entertained me greatly, and with the advent of the internet, it became my name for a number of places :p :p
Figured it was something like that.
Within my family contacts I still call Kerosean “Kersone” because of the spelling on a tin of it in the garage of an old fellow I rented a flat from in the sixties !
But if you’re giving gurnseys away, James….
OK concider yourself “Gurnseied”
Quaint word for a jumper isnt it. Not used nearly as much as it used to be.
Also was a “Jersey”
Now “aint that a cow ” !! ( as well.) as well.
Bazza is not a name it is an abbreviation, as in Gazza, Shazza and Wozza you fucking moron
Actually you are not a moron, i just put that there as a homage to boganness
A friends ex just had a child she called Draegan surely that has to go on the list
Xaxon, pronounced Saxon – boy at my kid’s school.
what’s with the transgender names??? This week’s Hatches, Matches and Dispatches contains a girl named Charlie and another girl named Isadore (not Isadora).
Wow. They spelled my name wrong, twice. -_-
Thanks to the X-factor we have Briden-Starr
A lot of the customers that come into work are complete and utter bogans. I’ve managed to discover some ridiculous names recently.
Driver
Sol-m (pronounced Solemn)
Derwick
Zon (apparently pronounced John)
Haideyn
Highdey
Johnythyn
Tommus
Karrot
The worst? Panadol. I think I actually threw up in my mouth a bit.
Oh Matt I LOVE Johnythyn.
I have a daughter, Harriet, and get asked more often than I thought was ever possible if it’s spelt “Harryette.”?
Was Dakota-Pheonix spelled incorrectly on purpose? Or is it even more bogan to spell a place name incorrectly when using it as a baby name?
Panadol!?? Someone give me one!!
Grance, Cree, Killen (…in the name of?) and ….. Jamaica Blue. Not even kidding.
Shinead- a terrible version of a beautiful Irish-Gaelic name;
Dominick
110% swear these are real:
Cheeky 1
Jayk0b (yes, with a zero, not an ‘o’)
sisters Molly, Polly, Holly & Lollie (why no ‘y’ for Lollie I have no idea)
Benjhamyn
Rascal
H
Victorya
Eclair
Trophy (a boy, and if only I could mention the surname)
and my fave…Adrain (yes, it was supposed to be Adrian).
Special mention to the Kiwis in the news a few years back who were denied by the authorities when they wanted to name their baby ’4Real’. Their response was to name him ‘Superman’ but for all purposes would refer to him as 4Real anyway. Apparently it stemmed from their reaction when they saw the first ultrasound & realised that he was, you guessed it, ‘for real’…
I once had the pleasure of hearing a women call out to her child who’s name was Thumper. I think I agree with most of those names on the list. But I never thought Macushla was a bogan name. More a traditional Gaelic name. Anything with an “ayden” on the end of a name is total white trash.
Hayden is the only exception here. Oh and I’ve got one. “Jessnick”. This poor bastard told his story in “thats Life” magazine a few years back (This mag is a wonderful treasure trove of bogan names) His parents best friends, Jes and Nick, were killed in a car accident just before his birth, so the idiots decided to make a living memorial top them. Oh the humanity….
Yeah well we can all make up or judge a name bogan I guess. Opinions opinions. Btw Ark Tribe is sooooooo far from bogan he makes y’all look like dipshits really. True story.
Diashia (Pronounced Dee asia), Destyn, Anastarshia.. Trayden, Indiana, Benjamen, Jarmen, Jezabel
Some I personally know of are
Savarna (What’s with the ‘r’?)
Aqualina
Capreece
Makayla
Dash
Arliyah
Diesel
Saffron
I heard a mother call out to her son in the shops, ‘Eros, we’re going!’
i know someone who named her daughter, shy-ann … awful awful she is 2 years old and already has a pot belly …. so sad.
Thats the god of love right, Eros.
The worst ive heard is ‘L-A’ … no not Los Angeles or EL-AY, but LA-DASH-A! no lie.
All good bogan names, frequently popping up on caesarean lists in SW Sydney. However, Mathilda is not a bogan affectation of Matilda. Three correct, traditional spellings of this name are: Matilda, Mathilde and Mathilda.
My Daughter is called Mathilda. Mathilda is a variant of Hilda, along with Brunhilda, Gunhilda, and various other such outdated Teutonic names. I am most certainly not a bogan.
I will note that when she was born, one of the nurses at my hospital asked me how to spell it. I replied “Mathilda with an aitch (note: not “haitch”).”
The card duly arrived addressed to someone called “Matildah”. Up with that I shall not put.
Fun site otherwise.
Excuse capital D in daughter. Typo.

I taught a Saviour, who we kept thinking was named Xavier and writing name tags accordingly until he corrected us. I think he was embarrassed.
I’ve also had a class with two Haydens and a Brayden.
Credehnce was one I saw recently and at a friends’ school: Shar-a: pronounced Shar- DASH- a!! Yep- the dash is “said”!!!
When it doubt, just add an ‘e’ here and an ‘n’ here…

I still think the kid who used to live across the street from me had it worse – she was Feebi
You have no idea how many times I’m asked how do you spell that? My name is JANE!!!
As an older parent, I’m seriously considering naming him/her ‘Cialis’ . My surname is Hunt so ‘Myke’ is definetly not on.
If only your surname was Green and you were blessed with a daughter so that you could name her Treeza!
I know of a girl name VELVET (spelt with capitals) and another named Kenya. There is nothing left to do but face palm
You forgot the classic Le-a (pronounced Ledasha) and XYZ (pronounced Zyce).
Bogan baby names and why not to use them: http://alisontennentdennehy.weebly.com/1/post/2012/10/whats-in-a-name-would-a-sparkles-by-any-other-name-be-just-as-bogan.html
What’s up, after reading this amazing paragraph i am too delighted to share my familiarity here with friends.
Pretty! This has been a really wonderful article.
Many thanks for providing this information.
I needed to thank you for this very good read!! I absolutely enjoyed every little bit of it.
I have got you book-marked to check out new stuff you
post…
“Jeziah” (pronounced Jezz-I-ah) suitable for bogan bloke or sheila should be on this list. I know of one poor little bastard who was called this recently
Torch
Rider
Long list of (all female) names encountered in a year working in a sport in which it appears many bogans enrol their kids. There were more names, but many were already on this page.

Albeit we are all having a bit of fun with this blog, I suspect that some of us are “taking the Mickey” a bit. You may be “trolling” here Pink Flamingo (in which case I have obviously taken the bait) but I have identified eight (8) legitimate given names in your list.
Maybe we need to be a little bit more wary of names and/or spelling variations that are unfamiliar to us. Our communities are becoming ever more culturally diverse, which will explain some names that seem to us to be a bit bogan.
For example, some thirty-five years ago I had hysterics when I heard a parent screaming out for Igor to stop doing whatever it was that he was doing. After all, who in their right mind would name their child after a character created for horror films? Was I in fact the one who was being a bogan in that situation?
That last one is a personal favourite (and demon!). For heaven’s sake…it’s Juanita. I rarely meet someone with the same name but about 75% of them are spelled the bogan way!
I know an Indeeah and an Indiah. It seems bogans have never heard of an atlas…
How about kristofor served me at KFC
I know a Jewellianna. Perfectly lovely name, perfectly awful way to spell it.
I visited Ballarat recently and took my kids to the local swimming pool. A bunch of young kids (under 10) were being rowdy and calling each other ‘arsehole’. Found out their real names when their tattooed, toothless mother called out to them; Tyson, Kayden and Mercedes (pronounced Merthedeeths due to the lack of front teeth).
My bogan sister in law named her kid Kaydyn. That kid is going to have to spell his name to people for the rest of his life!
Kazandrah for Cassandra seemed a straight forward bogan excercise in consonant substitution but when I came across Zymyn for Simon I was floored. Look mum, no vowels!
Does naming your daughter Charmagne cover both mis-spelling and bringing some class into your family (i.e. by means of referencing a most famous fancy drink)?
http://www.theadvocate.com.au/story/1232878/coasters-like-to-be-different/?cs=86
what about Jizzalya and Clarity
Precious
If the child is from sub-Saharan Africa, Precious is not uncommon. If they are bogans ….. well, what can you say??
Waiting at a Centrelink office, a young mum lost sight of her son & was calling out “Atlas” where are you / use a map to find him i thought lol.
Atlas is in fact the name of the Titan who was condemned to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. It may not be often used as a child’s name in this day and age but is not really any different to naming your son Algernon or your daughter Boadicea.
Would you believe “Grayss”? Because he bogans have actually done it.
Yolo
Troykus and Shay need to be added
Jaaron. I just saw this on News.com under a photo of some kids in a flood in QLD. (His sibling’s name is Ryley – shock me!)
By the way Mike, unfortunately Abcd (pronounced “abbcidee”) really is a child’s name now as I know one personally and has to bite my tounge and not express my disgust when I asked what the new addition to the family was named. So shoot me or don’t shoot me, there are still parents out there who really are that dumb.
From today’s Sun Herald….
Twins Poppi and Zinzan
A woman I am aware of recently gave birth to two precious (bogan) babies: Azulla (f) and Nzimiro (m) (pronounced: Zeemeerow; the N is silent, of course). If this wasn’t enough, I recently received bar service from a young man called Phred. I asked him the origin of the spelling of his name and he replied, “My parents are fucking stupid – why else?”. Good question, Phred! My heart goes out to Phred and these two children who will, inevitably, spend their lives spelling their names and explaining their origins, and probably (quite fairly) denouncing their parents’ intelligence in the meantime. I like to think that from this experience, these bogans, constantly frustrated by the pain their unique name has caused them, will break the chain and the next generation of bogan babies will be bestowed with normal, albeit “boring”, names, like Anne or Jack. Fingers crossed.
What about Michael Clark’s wife’s name? Kyly? That’s pretty bogan right there…
I once taught a kid named Aquestria. Poor girl.
I’ve met a Feebee, Molei, Skylah and a little baby called Danger.
ok, I obviously read magazines that the rest of you don’t so I had to share this one with you all, from this week’s That’s Life, in the “What’s in a Name” bit: Zhyryll Krystynn. “Zhyryll was chosen after the name Cyril, which means strong, and Krystynn was chosen after the name Christine, which means follower of Christ.”
Roar-ee instead of rorey, true strory
It made my day when I say Teleshia (my enemies name) , so bogan hehe
Also, I actually know of a family whose kids are called Mercedes, Cedar, Reyne & VESPA. Seriously? …
I don’t care how good the Ford was, do not call your daughter Shelby (also appears as a character in Mills & Boon novel).
From yesterday’s SMH – a pregnant woman caught in the north coast floods couldn’t get to hospital so had the baby at home. The poor little sprog’s name? – Sabre.
Braya
They made it up after they passed by Bay Rd on the way home from the prenatal check up. Good enough reason to me. *snort*!
lol @ Cody not being in here
Goodness me, when you said they’d called the child “Braya”, I presumed you meant she’d given birth to a foal; horses “bray”, so one who brays would therefore be a horse (or donkey, for example). See http://www.videoblocks.com/videos/details/horse-bray-sound-effect/
Heard “Jagger” hollered out across all twelve of the supermarket’s aisles the other day. Yeah thanks for that.
“Bodhi” seems to be appearing quite frequently in my Facebook news feed lately courtesy of my bogan friends.
Just had a “Kayden” visit our office. I think it was male.
bay-marie
Irish guy in the birthing unit reads aloud a card on a crib: ‘She-von’, there is a name you don’t hear much these days. Mother’s reply ‘ I thought it was ‘Cy-oh-baan’ (Siobhán)
I think this could be the motherlode.
Found this pic on Twitter: http://www.news.com.au/national-news/move-over-epponnee-rae-diammond-sparckles-in-town/story-e6frfkw0-1225820291079
… announcing that one Brinessa Martin ‘is proud to announce the birth of her beautiful daughter and 12 child, Passion Brinessa Ajayla Quinarlee’
… which apparently illustrates an article in today’s Daily Telegraph: http://www.news.com.au/national-news/move-over-epponnee-rae-diammond-sparckles-in-town/story-e6frfkw0-1225820291079
Among Passion’s siblings are Diammond Sparckle Zedekeyah Lilly Ann (“I thought it was a pretty name,” [Ms Martin] said. “Everyone loves diamonds and they are sparkly so it sort of fitted. We just added a couple of letters to the name so it would be a bit different.”), Brandi Shyla Molly Robyn, Indego Raindrop Sapphire, and the relatively normal Cruz Richard.
The horror…..the horror……
Ahem – ANNOUNCEMENT!! Brinessa Martin (mother to Diammond Sparckle Zedekeyeh Lilly Ann, Brandi Shyla Molly Robyn, and Indigo Raindrop Sapphire, has, this month given birth to baby number 12 …. Passion Brinessa Ajayla Quinatee. Brinessa “devised the younger girls names using verses of poetry, an iPhone name-generating app, and a love of adding letters.”. Well, clearly.
Here’s a link: http://www.smh.com.au/national/out-of-fashion-once-more-with-passion-20130323-2gmem.html ……..
And here is another one: http://media.smh.com.au/system/ipad/this-little-passion-makes-12-4128484.html
Brinessa Martin has had a 12th child ….Passion Brinessa Ajayla Quinatee Martin joins Diammond Sparckle Zedekeyah Lilly Ann, Indigo Raindrop Sapphire, and Brandi Shyla Molly Robyn, and eight other siblings. Brinessa “devised the younger girls names using verses of poetry, an iPhone name-generating app, and a love of adding letters.

OMFG!!!
I’m surprise to see some french name in this list!
The start of the AFL season has reminded me of Danyle (apparently pronounce Daniel) and his brother Clancee, now both playing for the Fremantle Football Club.
This just in. A workmate has a son Connaire (Connor), and in Service Tas on the weekend was a Shkyla, who was being shouted at by her mum (wasn’t doing anything bad at all really, don’t know why her mum was so mad!)
I’m still waiting for Bonquisha-Charise. Anyone have a currently unnamed baby?
I work at a paediatric hospital. Here are our memorable ones for the last few months: Kaihdyn, Slayter, Zayviar, Jazalena, Shrayden, Zahlia, Latrell, Natalyiah, Camryn, Genie, Drayce, Brayton, Dyson, Ryder, Duston, Jorjia, Calym, Darbi, Jacksyn, Zyon, Sabre, Kalhah (Carla?), Rhyleigh, and Majenta. Glorious, the lot of ‘em.
I don’t know whether I should be amused, bemused or befuddled!
To be fair to the rest of us Deirdre, if this list of names is real rather than imagined, you should also list the region that your hospital services so that we have a fair and reasonable chance of giving it a very wide berth.
I heard of a case one time where a junky scum couple called their child “Fruity Lexia”. She ended up changing it to “Alexia”
I heard a bogan yell out to its kid what I thought was “Eli”. Turns out the kid’s name was “Eagle-Eye”……now here is one reason some people should NOT be allowed to breed.
I’ve always liked Candida for a girl .
Apparently there is a contestant on the US X Factor named J’Sun. Yeah, it’s pronounced ‘Jason’. Kill me now.
there are two kids at my old school with the names Jaxon and Jaxson and they were your stereotypical bogan.
http://www.smh.com.au/world/are-you-4real-new-zealand-says-no-to-bizarre-baby-names-20130502-2itxz.html
Cailin is easily the worst bogan name (pronounced like “wailin’”, only with a “C”). Every time I hear it I think “Wailin’ Cailin”.
Other bogan names….
1) Anything rhyming with Aiden (Brayden, Jayden, Kayden).
2) Anything deliberately spelt wrong (Ohliveyah pronounced “Olivia”). Spell it correctly, incorrect spellings are not unique or exotic, merely stupid.
3) Any brand name (Porsche, Maserati, Chanel, Dior, Jack Daniels, Kahlua).
4) Any celebrity or sporting rip-off (Brock Peter).
5) Stripper names.
6) Anything you have made up yourself because it sounded “pretty” (Xoradicea, Fioradi, Tirabelli).
7) Ridiculous puntuaction additions (Ti’ana).
8) Anything distinctly cultural when you are NOT from that culture and have no good, sentimental reason for naming your baby that.
9) Deliberate attempts at unique or exotic names (your baby is not unique – unless it is an alien hybrid, then feel free to give it a unique name).
10) Excessively long names (Sophia Madeleine Ava Grace Magdelena Noelle – Birthday cards are a nightmare with this child).
11) Anything spelt normally with a bizarre pronunciation (Oliver pronounced “Olly-vy-er” – it sounds almost like “voyuer” at the end)
i work in property – i recently had a transfer to “Kay-T” – for some strange, unknown bogan reason, this name was not pronounced “Katie”, “Kate” or even “Kay dash tee” as may be supposed. Some idiot decided that this ridiculously bogan name had to have an even more bogan pronunciation ‘Kite”
How on earth did they come up with that???
